Experience fast and accurate diagnostic imaging with our advanced CT scans.
Computed Tomography (CT), also known as a CAT scan, is a fast, accurate, and noninvasive imaging test used to capture detailed cross-sectional views of the body. At Tower Imaging Medical Group, our cutting-edge CT technology is designed to provide superior image quality while minimizing scan time and patient discomfort. With 9 convenient locations across Southern California, we offer highly advanced CT imaging to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning.
What is a CT Scan?
CT scans use X-ray technology combined with advanced computer processing to create detailed images—or “slices”—of the body’s internal structures. These cross-sectional views allow radiologists to examine organs, bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues with remarkable precision. CT is particularly valuable for evaluating complex conditions in the chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, and brain.
When is CT Imaging Used?
CT scans are frequently used by physicians for both urgent and routine diagnostic needs, including:
- Oncology: Detecting and staging cancers
- Neurology: Evaluating brain injuries, strokes, and neurological disorders
- Cardiology: Assessing heart and blood vessel conditions
- Orthopedics: Imaging complex bone fractures and joint damage
- Trauma: Rapid assessment in emergency settings
- Angiography: Noninvasive vascular imaging to evaluate circulation

Preparing for Your CT Exam
Patients should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to their appointment. Depending on the type of CT scan ordered, you may be asked to fast for up to 4 hours before your exam. If contrast is needed, you may be asked to either drink an oral contrast agent or receive an intravenous (IV) injection of contrast material to improve the visibility of certain organs and blood vessels.
Please notify our team and your referring physician if you are pregnant, have a known allergy to contrast dye, or have any pre-existing kidney issues that may require additional evaluation before contrast administration.
During the CT Scan
CT scans are quick and painless. You will lie comfortably on a motorized table that gently moves through a donut-shaped CT scanner. As the scanner rotates, it emits a narrow beam of X-rays that passes through your body. These X-rays are captured and processed by a computer to generate highly detailed images in real-time.
The entire procedure typically takes 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the type of scan being performed. Our technologists will communicate with you throughout the exam and ensure your comfort and safety at all times.
After Your CT Scan
Most patients are able to resume normal activities immediately following their scan. If contrast dye was used, you’ll be encouraged to drink plenty of fluids to help flush the material from your system. One of our expert radiologists will interpret the results and send a detailed report to your referring physician, who will contact you to discuss the findings and any next steps in your care plan.
